Help with ConstituNet and the ConstituNet add-in for Microsoft Outlook.

Email support@constitunet.com. We answer within one business day on weekdays. There is no charge for support, and it is available to every office with an active subscription.

What to include in a report

The difference between a same-day fix and three rounds of questions is usually these five things:

  • Your office name and the email address you sign in with
  • What you were trying to do, and what happened instead
  • Where it happened — the web application, or the add-in in Outlook on the web, new Outlook for Windows, classic Outlook for Windows, or Outlook on Mac
  • The case reference number, if the problem concerns one particular case
  • A screenshot, and the exact wording of any error message

Please do not paste constituent personal details — names, addresses, dates of birth, case narratives — into a support email. A case reference number is enough for us to find the record, and it keeps sensitive information out of an ordinary mailbox.

Common problems you can fix yourself

The add-in button is missing from the ribbon. Outlook only shows add-ins when a message is open. Open a message first. If it is still missing, the add-in was not installed successfully — ask whoever installed it to add it again and read any error shown.

The pane says sign-in is required, just after you connected. A connection lasts twelve hours and then expires by design. Press Connect again.

Pressing Connect does nothing, or the window closes instantly. A popup blocker stopped the sign-in window. Allow popups for the Outlook site and try again.

The pane is blank. Close the message, reopen it, and open the pane again. If it stays blank, tell us which Outlook you are using — the fix depends on the client.

An email is shown as already logged. That is correct behaviour, not a fault. ConstituNet recognises a message that has already been filed onto a case and will not record it twice.

You cannot sign in at all. Accounts are issued by your own office. Ask your Chief of Staff to check that you are still a member of the office before writing to us.

For IT administrators

The add-in requests the ReadItem permission and nothing else — the narrowest level Microsoft offers. It reads only the message the user has deliberately opened, cannot browse or search the mailbox, and cannot send mail. It requests no Microsoft Graph permissions and requires no administrative consent, so it grants no standing access to your tenant.

It can be deployed to an entire office from the Microsoft 365 admin centre under Settings → Integrated apps. Write to support@constitunet.com for the manifest and a summary you can hand to a security reviewer.

Reporting a security problem

Send security reports to support@constitunet.com with Security in the subject line, and we will acknowledge within one business day. Please report privately and give us a reasonable chance to fix the issue before disclosing it.

We will not pursue a researcher who acts in good faith, reports privately, and does not access, alter, or retain data belonging to anyone else.
